DOS

How Does It Work?
The disk operating system (DOS) is made up of three parts: IO.SYS, MSDOS.SYS, and COMMAND.COM. IO.SYS works with ROM BIOS to control the computer’s input/ output functions; MSDOS.SYS (sometimes called the kernel) manages files, runs programs, and performs basic system functions; COMMAND.COM performs all the DOS commands. In addition, COMMAND.COM functions as the overall "manager" for the computer.
COMMAND.COM is kept in memory at all times so that DOS commands (such as COPY) can be executed when needed. If a program needs that memory for processing, COMMAND.COM is overwritten. If it's needed later on, COMMAND.COM is copied back into memory.

JOKES

JOKE1: The two little girls were busy boasting to reach other about how great their respective fathers were.
‘My father had lunch with Shakespeare yesterday,’ said Sally.
‘But Shakespeare is dead,’ commented Clare.
‘Oh,’ replied Sally, unperturbed. ‘No wonder dad said he was quiet.’
JOKE2: Angela’s mother was looking in the mirror and plucking out the few grey hairs which she found in her head.

‘Mummy, why do you have some grey hair?’ inquired Angela.
‘Probably because you’re such a naughty girl and cause me so much worry.’
‘Oh!’ said Angela. ‘You must have been a devil towards grandmother.’
